Take a Look at Your Thermostat
STEP 1
Power off your heating/cooling system.
Turn the system off using your home’s circuit breaker or the switch on your equipment.

Remove your existing thermostat cover.
Remove any screws and pull the cover away from the wall.

- Warning labels that say 110v/220v
- Wires connected by wire nuts
- Wires labeled L1 or L2

Look for the letters and numbers on your thermostat’s wall panel. Identify and select all the labeled terminals that are situated on your thermostat base and have corresponding wires from behind the wall securely attached to them.
